ERZ girls lose to Andover 15-11
Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman lost a conference match to Andover 15-11 at home Monday evening. Scoring two goals each were Alleah Balzer, Katelyn Gfroerer, and Raelyn Korinek. Notching one each were Annie Dalton, Alexandra Gallus, Mikayla Knudson, Reilly Springman and Ellie Yonak. ERZ (4-8) will close the regular season hosting Armstrong on Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.


ERZ girls have won 3 in row

Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman girls lacrosse has won three consecutive games to improve their record to 4-6. They edged Maple Grove 13-12 on May 4, then heated up offensively to beat Totino-Grace 19-10 on May 6 and Spring Lake Park 19-12 on Tuesday at home. The Elks will try keep it going with a conference game Wednesday at Anoka, 6:30 p.m. The Star News does not have scoring data for the recent games at this posting but her are photos from the win over Spring Lake Park.

ERZ girls tip Centennial 17-12 for first win
Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman picked up its first win in five games, after coming close several times, outscoring Centennial 17-12 at home on Thursday evening.

“We had a good game,” said coach Stephanie Anderson. “We’ve had chances to win other games; they just didn’t go our way at the end. We have a very young team.”

Alexandra Gallus scored six goals and Alleah Balzer five to lead ERZ offensively. Katelyn Gfroerer added three, Mikayla Knutson two, and Annie Dalton and Jessica Edwards once each. he goalkeeper was freshman Laura Schmierer, in place of regular goalie Emma Dalton, who has a thumb injury. Schmierer stopped 13 of 26 shots.

Claire Carlson led Centennial (3-3) with three goals.

ERZ will play at Osseo on Wednesday.

ERZ girls nipped by Coon Rapids 10-8
Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman girls lacrosse lost its second straight close game at the start of the season, 10-8 to Coon Rapids, at home on Wednesday evening.

Raelyn Korinek notched three goals, Alexandra Gallus and Alleah Balzer two each, and Reilly Springman one, for the Elks. Emma Dalton stopped 21 of 31 shots.

Allie Erickson pumped in four goals and Heidi Hannula three for the Cardinals.

ERZ, which lost its opener to Blaine 7-6, will try again Saturday at Champlin Park.

ERZ girls lose to Blaine 7-6 in opener
Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman lost its season opener to Blaine 7-6 on Monday in Blaine. Raelyn Korinek notched three goals for ERZ and Annie Dalton, Alexandra Gallus, and Kately Gfoerer had one each. Emma Dalton was in goal. ERZ will host Coon Rapids on Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.
